so i'm living w/ j. in a roommate-sort of arrangement with his brother and sister-in-law. they own the house, we pay rent, the cat gets lots of love and it's generally pretty great.
current story:
so yesterday was monsoon season in halifax: rain, wind, sleet, hail, snow, rain, wind. bad. very, very bad. and... this brand new house that j's brother et. al. have purchased - leaks. not the kind of leak where you put a towel down under the door when it rains hard. but the kind of leak where you go through the floor like tom hanks in the money pit. (mild exaggeration. MILD).
after 4 blankets, 5 towels, the destruction of ceramic tiles, the removal of rotten wood, a huge roll of plastic to cover everything up and 5 hours of enjoyment, they're closing in on a $$$$ recovery project.
things i've learned from this:
- if something goes wrong in the house that you're living in that your boyfriend's twin brother owns, there is no calling the landlord and gettin' outta dodge.
- cats DO NOT enjoy being shut up in a room for their own safety.
- people never find out bad things about their house in the morning. it's always nightish.
- central vacuums are evil.
quote of the evening:
"we bought a LEMON!!!"

Holy crap, that sounds like some serious suckage.
I would be contacting my real estate agent and bitching them out over this one!
On a different note... glad to see you back online! I missed your updates :D
