fa la la la la..

yay christmas!

i sleep in, i eat good food, i drink decent wine, i hang out w/ cool peeps, i read good books; i want this holiday thing to last all year long! or at least until i'm sick of being in my mom's house ;)

i attempted to unplug a little for the holidays, and it's working! perhaps a little too well, as i missed a newfoundlandbibliodrinkingfest at everyone's favourite haunt. i'm sure the boys had a drink for me, though, so it's all good!

i had kind of forgotten how people in these parts use pet names hand over fist. i've been called my lovely, my ducky, honey, sweetie, darlin' and dearie more times in 2 weeks than all the other weeks of the year combined, i think. i haven't gotten an old trout yet, though. i'm holdin' out!

i had also forgotten my mother's affection for game shows. they've really cranked up production! it's not only jeopardy [which, come on, is the BEST ever!!] and wheel of fourtune anymore. it's some show with howie mandel and he's bald and the contestents have to just pick numbered cases filled with money protected by skantily clad beautiful women. and there's a show with william shatner (bill?) and dancing skantily clad beautiful women. and there's one with penn from penn and teller (no teller though.. hope he wasn't eaten by a tiger, too?). it's a verifiable jungle of game shows!! :)

on a more biblio-note, my niece has requested for christmas a list of authors and musicians she should read/listen to. nice! so i've been busy compiling. i think it's a great idea to give a little list (buulleted or otherwise, perhaps even in bookmark form?) to everyone on your christmas list new things they should experience! so.. anyone out there who would like to offer up some suggestions for my beautiful niece, now's your chance to shine! musically she loves jack johnson, dave matthews, and bedouin soundclash (and others, but i think most importantly is jack), and bookwise, she's liked everything i've made her read in the past little while (think a fine balance, the kite runner) and pretty much digs anything that has a good storyline and might make her cry. she's 21, looking to be a primary/elementary teacher (or a pediatric nurse) and is completely in love! i have a list of my own to give her, but any additions would be great! i'll not post my list in case she reads, so that some of it may be surprising!

cheers!

ho ho.. oh.

wow.
not much happening in goode ol' new founde lande lately.

let's see... went shopping at the babylon mall. eep! came back itemless, cranky and slightly ill. think the latter has more to do with the decompression of my body as it dives into post-semester mode, but let's blame it on the shopping, shall we?

as long as we're on the topic of malls (see lady penchants), can we all just collectively roll our eyes at the leggings people?? sweet honorable god, what do these people think they're proving? there were about 15 bus-loads of kiddies at said mall this afternoon [an educational trip to critique our consumeristic modernity, i can only assume] and at least a quarter of those pre-adolescent girls were leggingified. there is just no need! you can buy nightmare before christmas leggings at the mall. can you even imagine that??

moving onto more positive topics complete with full ass coverage --> my seester's coming home tonight!! yay!!

yayYAYyayYAYyayYAYyayYAYyayYAYyayYAY!

i'm excited!!

and look how friggin' cute we are!! :)

andrea's digest.

it's sunny and beautiful and that kind of cold that makes your nose tingle and i drove to signal hill today and just stood up on the concrete wall and vibrated with happiness! i reiterate from yesterday: life. is. good.

so this semester sucked, right bibliofolk? right. herein lies a brief digest of my life during the suckage:
  • school.
  • more school.
  • and yet more school.
  • got to know more bibliofolk better: delightful!
  • saw sarah harmer in concert instead of the stones: good choice.
  • school.
  • more school.
  • and yet more school.
  • saw sarah slean the night before i flew home: opening guy was so terrible, i just wanted to leave. apparently, he's got a new friend. good lord! and really, banter is one thing.. but come on. he talked boring-talk more than he sang lame songs. and i know jenifesto will double over in pain if she reads this... but sarah was... well.. ok. to be honest, only 4 or 5 of the songs really captured me. at points, i just zoned out and started mentally outlining my collections project. i think i was just tired and cranky and stressed. perhaps i'll give her another go the next time she visits hali. as long as i arrive late enough to miss the opening act!
  • school.
  • home.
  • more school.
  • and yet more school.
  • and finally, no more school (until january).

so, yeah. i'm boring.

welcome to the old country!

i'm home. there's snow. i'm done school work for the semester.
life. is. good.
anyone have books to recommend? i've been eating through the ones i brought, even though i was supposed to be doing work...

meow!

heya;

hyde_from_systems is no more (thank the lord) and i've gotten kind of used to this whole blogging bit... so here i am!

i'll warn you... nothing even vaguely productive will come from this.
